Welcome to STEAM and Technical College of Hano Technical University!
This college offers different courses in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) as well as technical courses. The programmes are examined by Hano Technical University and aim to produce graduates that are ready for the job market and are capable of identifying, formulating and solving complex problems in STEAM by applying the principles of Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics. This is achieved through the deliberately crafted teaching and learning atmosphere geared towards experiential learning with an emphasis on the practical aspect. Our dedicated staff/team are eager to take the learners through their paces to ensure that they emerge as transformed and skilful individuals ready for the job market. The Technical College helps an individual to make more informed decisions in the everyday business of living. It gives them a better understanding of the world of work and encourages them to consider how and why people establish a business.
The department offers programmes aimed at developing the essential transferable or ‘soft’ skills that employers demand and also cultivating the following strengths: critical thinking and analytical skills, alongside familiarity with evaluative techniques; numeracy and the ability to interpret and use business and financial data and information; self-reliance, initiative and the ability to manage time, projects and resources; appreciation of the causes and effects of economic and other external changes; a creative problem-solving approach and sound, logical decision-making skills; effective and persuasive written and oral communication skills; and understanding organisational behaviour and structure. Our department recognises the need to train competent professionals who will contribute towards the development of the country into a newly industrialising middle-income economy by 2030. The training offered in the department aims at producing graduates who are well-equipped with the appropriate knowledge and skills to identify scientific problems, design solutions to those problems and plan and execute appropriate interventions, in line with national priorities and emerging issues. Our academic programmes have been developed with the demands of the job market in mind thereby producing graduates who are highly competitive with the right knowledge, attitudes and skills towards sustainability.
